Job Overview:
A leading law firm with a nationally recognized private client practice is seeking a Trusts & Estates Associate Attorney with at least two years of relevant experience to join its team in New Haven, Connecticut. The role offers the opportunity to work on sophisticated estate planning and administration matters, with a particular focus on planning for individuals with special needs. Candidates will be part of a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team serving high-net-worth individuals, fiduciaries, and tax-exempt organizations. Location:

  • New Haven, Connecticut

Duties:

  • Advise clients on estate, trust, and charitable planning

  • Draft and review estate planning documents, including trusts, wills, and special needs trusts

  • Handle estate and trust administration matters

  • Support planning related to lifetime gifting, succession planning, and charitable giving

  • Assist with estate and income taxation matters, and tax-efficient wealth transfer strategies

  • Collaborate with attorneys across corporate, tax, real estate, and fiduciary litigation practices

  • Provide tailored solutions for clients including family offices and high-net-worth individuals

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in trusts and estates law, including planning and administration

  • Demonstrated interest in or experience with special needs planning

  • Ability to manage complex private client matters with professionalism

  • Independent work ethic combined with a strong team-oriented mindset

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active member of the Connecticut Bar in good standing (required)
