Job Title: Collections Attorney

Job Overview:
A Providence-based law firm is seeking a litigation attorney with experience in collections to join its legal team. The ideal candidate will bring a results-driven mindset to resolving debt recovery matters through legal channels in one or more jurisdictions across the Northeast. This position offers a mix of courtroom advocacy, negotiation, and strategic planning in support of creditor recovery efforts.

Duties:

  • Oversee a caseload of collection matters from initial filing to final resolution

  • Represent clients in state courts and mediation sessions across assigned jurisdictions

  • Prepare pleadings, motions, settlement agreements, and related legal filings

  • Communicate and negotiate directly with opposing parties to reach a resolution

  • Advise clients on optimal recovery strategies under applicable state laws

  • Maintain accurate documentation and comply with internal case tracking procedures

Requirements:

  • Authorized to practice law in at least one of the following states: New Hampshire, Maine, or Massachusetts

  • Demonstrated experience in collections, creditors’ rights, or financial recovery litigation

  • Skilled in settlement negotiation and courtroom advocacy

  • Comfortable operating both independently and in close collaboration with legal teams

  • Strong attention to detail with solid time management capabilities

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active State Bar membership in at least one of: NH, ME, or MA

  • Admission in multiple states is considered a plus

Skills:

  • Persuasive written and verbal communication

  • Proficiency in drafting legal documents with clarity and precision

  • Analytical problem-solving with a focus on results

  • Ability to handle a high-volume docket with professionalism

  • Familiarity with court filing systems and legal research tools
