A well-established bankruptcy law firm based in Columbia, Maryland is seeking a full-time Associate Attorney with 1–3 years of experience in consumer bankruptcy law. The ideal candidate will be responsible for handling Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 matters from intake through confirmation. This role offers a mix of virtual and in-person court appearances and requires strong familiarity with bankruptcy procedures in Maryland. The position is ideal for a motivated attorney looking to grow within a dedicated bankruptcy practice.

Location:

  • Columbia, Maryland

Duties:

  • Prepare and file consumer bankruptcy petitions (primarily Chapters 7 and 13)

  • Draft pleadings and review documentation related to bankruptcy filings

  • Represent clients at 341 meetings and confirmation hearings

  • Attend hearings virtually and in-person as required

  • Communicate with clients regarding case updates and required documentation

  • Ensure compliance with federal and local bankruptcy rules

  • Collaborate with legal support staff to manage case files efficiently

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 1–3 years of hands-on consumer bankruptcy experience

  • Ability to manage a steady caseload independently

  • Familiarity with court procedures and trustees in the District of Maryland

  • Willingness to attend hearings in person as needed

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active member of the Maryland State Bar

  • Admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland
