A national law firm with a focus on financial services litigation is seeking a Collections Associate Attorney licensed in Wisconsin to join its growing practice. This is a remote, full-time position designed for an attorney with experience in collections, creditors’ rights, or civil litigation. The role involves managing a high-volume caseload, representing institutional clients in court, and ensuring compliance with state and federal consumer protection laws.

Location

Duties

  • Manage a portfolio of collection matters from initiation through final resolution

  • Draft pleadings, motions, and discovery documents

  • Represent clients in court proceedings throughout Wisconsin

  • Negotiate settlements and payment agreements with opposing counsel and debtors

  • Conduct legal research to inform litigation strategy and maintain compliance

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation using legal case management systems

  • Communicate effectively with clients, court personnel, and opposing counsel

  • Ensure compliance with firm policies and client-specific guidelines

  • Collaborate with internal departments, including compliance and litigation support

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of legal experience in collections, creditors’ rights, or civil litigation

  • Strong understanding of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and relevant Wisconsin laws

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-volume legal environment

  • Strong advocacy and negotiation skills

  • Familiarity with electronic case filing and legal database tools

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications

  • Active and in good standing with the Wisconsin State Bar (required)

  • Additional bar admissions are a plus

Skills

  • Excellent legal writing and oral communication skills

  • Strong organizational and case management abilities

  • Proficient in legal research platforms and case management software

  • Ability to work independently while maintaining collaborative relationships
