Job Overview
A well-established, multi-state law firm is seeking a Creditors’ Rights Attorney licensed in New York to support its expanding real estate and financial litigation practice. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in mortgage foreclosure and collections, and will be comfortable handling a high-volume caseload while representing institutional clients in state and federal court. This full-time, primarily remote role includes travel within the state for court appearances and hearing coverage.

Duties

  • Manage a high-volume caseload in the areas of mortgage foreclosure and collections

  • Represent clients in court appearances across New York, including federal and bankruptcy courts

  • Draft pleadings, motions, and discovery documents

  • Handle discovery disputes, depositions, and settlement negotiations

  • Provide legal guidance on creditors’ rights matters and applicable regulations

  • Conduct legal research to support litigation strategy

  • Collaborate with internal legal teams to maintain compliance with firm and client protocols

  • Support the firm’s strategic growth and client development efforts in New York

  • Participate in appellate matters, where applicable

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in mortgage foreclosure, collections, or creditors’ rights litigation

  • Familiarity with New York court systems and applicable procedures

  • Experience resolving discovery disputes and handling complex litigation matters

  • Working knowledge of TILA, RESPA, FDCPA, and the Bankruptcy Code preferred

  • Availability to attend court proceedings throughout New York

  • Strong client communication and business development skills

  • Willingness to assist in expanding the firm's presence in the region

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications

  • Active license to practice law in the State of New York (required)

  • Admission to New York federal district and bankruptcy courts (or ability to obtain quickly)

  • Licenses in additional states are a plus
