Duties

  • Manage all aspects of assigned collection matters from initiation through resolution

  • Draft legal documents including pleadings, motions, and discovery

  • Represent clients in court proceedings across Minnesota jurisdictions

  • Negotiate settlements and payment arrangements with opposing counsel and debtors

  • Conduct legal research to inform case strategies and ensure regulatory compliance

  • Maintain accurate documentation in legal case management systems

  • Communicate with clients, court personnel, and opposing counsel professionally and promptly

  • Adhere to client guidelines, internal policies, and compliance standards

  • Collaborate with litigation support, compliance, and internal legal teams

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in collections, civil litigation, or creditors’ rights law

  • Strong knowledge of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and Minnesota-specific consumer laws

  • Ability to manage multiple active cases and meet strict deadlines

  • Experience with legal research tools and litigation software platforms

  • High attention to detail and commitment to professional standards

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications

  • Active and in good standing with the Minnesota State Bar (required)

  • Additional state bar admissions are a plus

Skills
