Job Overview

A law firm headquartered in New York City is actively seeking seasoned litigation attorneys to join its expanding practice. With a strong presence in the city and Long Island, this firm handles many complex civil litigation matters. The role offers an opportunity to step into meaningful work immediately, managing active dockets across multiple areas such as insurance disputes, workplace injury claims, and construction-related liability cases.

Duties

  • Oversee multifaceted litigation cases from initiation through final resolution, including trial

  • Compose legal documents, including pleadings, motion papers, and position statements

  • Conduct and defend depositions; manage discovery processes

  • Perform in-depth legal research and analytical writing

  • Handle courtroom appearances, mediations, and settlement conferences

  • Offer legal strategy and direction to clients involved in disputes relating to:

    • Labor and workplace safety claims (especially under New York statutes)

    • Site-related injuries and premises liability

    • Construction defect disputes

    • General civil liability and insurance coverage matters

Requirements

  • Minimum of 6 years of substantive litigation experience

  • Prior work on matters involving New York construction law, labor law, insurance defense, or personal injury litigation

  • Experience managing all phases of litigation independently, including trial preparation and strategy

  • Strong familiarity with New York State courts; exposure to federal courts is advantageous

  • Ability to lead cases while collaborating with legal teams

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications

  • Active membership in the New York State Bar

  • Admission to practice in New Jersey and/or Connecticut is a bonus
