Job Overview
A leading law firm is seeking an associate to join its top-ranked Employee Benefits & Executive Compensation group. The successful candidate will support a wide range of clients, including publicly traded corporations, privately owned companies, financial institutions, and tax-exempt organizations, with expertise in the design, implementation, and maintenance of various employee benefits programs. The role involves handling complex matters including retirement plans, health and welfare programs, incentive plans, and ERISA fiduciary issues.

Duties

  • Advise clients on employee benefits and executive compensation matters, including tax-qualified retirement plans, health and welfare benefits, non-qualified deferred compensation plans, and incentive plans.
  • Counsel on ERISA fiduciary issues and benefits aspects of mergers and acquisitions (M&A).
  • Draft and analyze health and welfare benefit plans and qualified retirement plans.
  • Collaborate with clients to design, implement, and maintain employee benefit programs.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, fostering trust and providing high-quality legal advice.

Requirements

  • 3-6 years of experience in employee benefits and executive compensation law.
  • Proven experience in the analysis and drafting of health and welfare benefits and qualified plan issues.
  • Strong work ethic with the ability to build and maintain client relationships.
  • Solid understanding of ERISA, tax-qualified retirement plans, and non-qualified deferred compensation plans.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active bar membership in the jurisdiction of employment.

Skills

  • Strong expertise in employee benefits and executive compensation law.
  • Excellent analytical, research, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
